Sorry for the lack of posts recently, friends. I’ve just been in that blah state of pregnancy where I don’t feel like doing much of anything. Unfortunately, having Drew, Beau and Kevin to take care of is what my energy has gone to. My brain cells have produced little creativity.
I am nesting a bit though. Last weekend we went over the divide to go see my SIL graduate from high school, and my wonderful MIL sent us back home with two single mattresses! Yay! and thank you! I’ve been wanting to get the boys into the same room now for a while, thinking it would be a wise idea to adjust Beau to sleeping in a “big boy” bed, let alone share a room with his brother. Don’t want to have two kids waking us up at night! For now, the mattresses are still sitting there, naked in Drew’s room, which I am trying really hard to not let bother me, but I know we’ll get them set up soon. Kev is super busy, of course, and getting our new coolers installed is a priority. Ahem. So… yeah, I’ve just been trying to keep up with the boys, do laundry, a little cleaning, cooking and that about saps me.
The only thing that seems to have grabbed my interest lately is my knitting. Seriously. I have three projects going right now, and that is very unusual for me…must be another form of nesting. Though, it might have more to do with the fact that I’ve gotten frustrated with my first two projects and started on something else.
I have another ultrasound this Friday, you know just to make sure everything is in place, specifically my placenta, and it always is. I’m looking forward to getting to see my baby girl again. Then Friday night, courtesy of Kevin’s gracious grandparents, (who are going to watch the boys) we are going on a date! Gasp! I know, almost unheard of. I don’t remember what we did on our last date, it’s been that long. (OR my pregnant brain is not doing so good with the recalling…) So yeah, looking forward to that too. I think I may actually be looking forward to that a little more than the ultrasound, is that weird? Nah…
So yeah, sorry for the rambling. I’m thinking this post is more for myself than anything. Sometimes it’s good to just get stuff, and I do mean “stuff”, because these certainly aren’t any high-falutin’ thoughts here…out. And there you have it, probably one of the most mundane posts I’ve ever written. Do I get a prize? Yes, yes I think so. Specially since I’m the one who awards them…

Drew didn’t get his not admitting things from me.

Drew is one of those kids (or people) that just will not ever admit that he farted, ever. Even if it’s completely obvious to everybody and himself. He will always blame it on someone else, even if they’re not there. Namely his brother, and occasionally someone else. But this story…this one takes the cake. To set it up here, Beau had become constipated due to us letting him drink mass quantities of Gatorade while we were in Phoenix (whoops!), so, I let both boys drink a small amount of prune juice. It didn’t do much for Beau, but since Drew didn’t need any help…it worked for him. He had a very small accident while jumping on the trampoline. And he says to Kevin, “Daddy, I think somebody pooped in my pants the other day.”
“Oh, really?”
“Yeah, somebody pooped in my pants, and I think it was Honor. Yeah, Honor pooped in my pants.”

Dear me. What am I going to do with this boy. And poor Honor…he always gets a bad rap, even if it is funny.

“Hi Mom! While you were so selflessly fixing us lunch, I decided to get into your make-up cabinet with Beau, and somehow I magically grew a beard.”

“Yes, and here’s a side-view of my loveliness.”

Ugh…heartburn, the bane of pregnancy. Yes, unfortunately, it has struck. Either I’m going to have to learn to pick up things with my toes, or get one of those reachy things… (Do you think they’ll pick up legos?) You know, so I don’t have to bend over, because that’s when it all comes sliding up.
Ick. And if you have any heartburn remedies, advice, etc. please, feel free to share! Sigh.

Right now, I’m sitting on my couch (typing, obviously) but also watching the flickering of lightning and listening to the glorious sounds of thunder. The sliding glass door is open and the wind is touching my toes. There is an orange glow outside from the setting sun. The boys are snug in their beds after falling asleep on the car ride home. Today we spent a leisurely Mother’s Day at my sister’s mother-in-law’s place (is there a better name for that?) She spent the last couple days preparing a feast for us all, and putting together some snazzy gifts for all us mothers. Thank you, Laurie- you are awesome, and generous and I’m so very thankful that you are my sister’s mother-in-law, and part of our family! Also, to my mother: I love you so much, and I am so proud of you this year. You’ve overcome so much. You’ve grown so much. You are a fighter, and you are strong. I’m so blessed to be your daughter. To my sister, on her first official Mother’s Day: I’m also very proud of you this year. You’ve taken to motherhood so well, with much grace and confidence and happiness, and that is both inspiring and comforting. Zoe is so blessed to be your daughter.
To my mother-in-law, Cherry: thank you for raising a thoughtful, hard-working and intelligent son, who knows how to love oh, so well. Thank you for your understanding and support of me that is often unspoken, but not unnoticed. To my bonus mother-in-law, Cheryl: you are a great companion and support, and a strong woman. I’m so glad that you are an overcomer, a fighter and healthy! To my sister Hannah’s, mother-in-law: I’m also thankful that you are Hannah’s mother-in-law. You are an inspiring woman of God, and I appreciate your sweet spirit. Thanks for welcoming us and especially our children into your fold. To my two best friends, Melissa and Allison: God knew what he was doing when he placed you two in my life. I’ve learned so much from each of you, and leaned on you so much too. I’m pretty sure I’d be an insane mommy without your understanding, commiseration, and companionship. Both you are fantastic mother’s in your own ways, and in your own right. To each and every mother that reads this: You have all taken on an amazing and extremely important role by choosing to bring life into this world. Don’t ever think that you aren’t that important, and that you aren’t doing enough. Remember that Mary had to raise Jesus. Happy Mother’s Day, and much love to you all!
And I can’t forget my sister Hannah, who will one day make an excellent mother, but at the moment is a big help to all those mother’s who are delivering- if you’ve been blessed enough to have her as your labor and delivery nurse, trust me you’ve been blessed!
And a very appreciative thanks to my wonderful hubby who chased two very active boys all over today, (even though he wasn’t feeling well) so mommy could have a relaxing day. I love you, hon!

Okay…so this post is long overdue ( I hope I’m not saying similar words about my baby in a few months here…ha ha ha.) The truth is, I’ve been kind of avoiding writing this post for a few reasons. One, I’m not so sure everyone really wants to hear about “we went here, we went there, did this, did that…blah blah blah…” and second, there really wasn’t anything about the trip that particularly sticks out in my mind as something interesting to share- until we got our speeding ticket in the mail this Monday. Yes, you read that right. We got a speeding ticket while we were in Phoenix. We were driving along, following my BIL and sister and as we were switching lanes *FLASH* there was a police van sitting there, clocking speeders and taking their pictures. It was so obvious what had happened there was no wondering about it. My husband and I were only hoping we’d be fortunate enough to not receive the ticket in the mail, but no such luck. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we paid $182 and got this crappy photo:

Somehow- the photo brings and aspect of humor to the whole thing. I’m not sure why, but they decided to block out my face, and Drew’s face with those white dots. He he.

This was so funny…when we got here, Kevin said, “Wow, that whole place is Ikea? I thought it was the size of a World Market or something…” The thing I was most looking forward to was his reaction to Ikea, and I was not disappointed.

This chief graciously posed for a picture with us in good old Wikieup, Arizona. Drew wouldn’t go near him, Beau on the other hand, was ready to make him his new buddy.

The new bridge that will bypass the Hoover Dam…this is waaaay high up there. This is looking up from the top of the Hoover Dam, which is already sky high if that gives you any sort of an idea…
